September 8th: Javier Hernandez

September 15th: Staci Goddard
Air Pollution and the Decline of Civility: In recent years American mainstream culture has exhibited an ostensible decrease of civility and the increasing polarization of opinions. In many ways this has resulted from how the news media, social media, and politicians prey on the fears and exploit the insecurities of the public. This discussion will approach the ordeal from a biochemical angle, demonstrating how the averse effects of air pollution—especially particulate matter—has contributed to the vulnerability of human intellect and how the impairments to cognition make individuals prone to manipulation and ultimately, subjugation.
September 29th: Matt Sedillo & Greg Palast
Location: Avenue 50 Studio: 131 N. Avenue 50
Highland Park, CA 90042
Poets have thus far beautifully, brutally, elegantly described the world the point however is to change it. Join us for a night of poetry and politics with award winning journalist Greg Palast and internationally touring poet Matt Sedillo as they distill the content of our times into art and the call for actual change in our world today.
Join us for a series of powerful afternoons, offering participants the opportunity to experience and learn from remarkable individuals who will share, connect and fuel the conversation forward. The series hopes to build on our ability to affect systemic change through community building, political action, and critical consciousness raising.
